Plan, organize, and dream your way to garden success with this 12 page garden notebook where you can lay out your garden, record, and journal to remember your garden experiments.
If you're a subscriber to AOC's newsletter,I hope you've downloadedthe garden notebook that's been in the subscriber library. It's really one of the things I feel has truly given me garden success through the years.I detailed some ofthe benefits of keeping basic records here,as well as how I've organized garden paperwork through the years in a gardening binder.
While all the pages record useful things that I'm glad I have a record of,the most valuable part to me has always been the diagrams of my vegetable beds from year to year.I plan the beds in late winter or early spring and the plan guides me in both starting seeds and buying plants (how many do I need of each vegetable) and where to plant the transplants when the time comes.
But the value doesn't stop there – I also update the plan as I make changes or additions, which helps me plan better for the next year.
And most important of all when you are gardening organically is that these vegetable plans are a record of what was planted from year to year so you can rotate what you plant in each bed. This is one of the main ways to discourage recurring soil-born diseases.
All this is to say – this is a key part of gardening! And not just for vegetables – how many times do you wish you could remember what shrub or perennial you planted in what spot?Especially when they've disappeared for the winter. And if something dies, you have a record of that so that you don't plant it again in that area if it didn't like it.
As an added bonus, when we sold our home, the buyers were super excited to have the copied plans I gave them so they'd know what was going to come up the next year.Man,I'd love to be given something like this when moving to a new place, wouldn't you??
New Pages for The Garden Notebook
And now the Garden Success Notebook has two additional pages!I realized it would be helpful to have a page to record not only the seeds to buy (which was included) but also what you started and when. Then I thought it would be fun to have a place to record your garden yields – how many pounds, basketfuls,or stems of flowers did you harvest and of what??
So in this subscriber freebie you will find the original 10 pages, plus the following two new pages:
An indoor seed starting page.Once you have this record, you will not have to look as much on the seed packets, since you'll have the sow-to-plant dates figured out for your specific environment, both inside and out!!
A garden yields page.I wrote"produce"because we think of vegetables most often in recording our garden's output, but I think it would be fun to record how many blooms were on a favorite rose bush each year or how many sunflowers you harvested. It's all produce from our efforts, right??
